Rules - MTL

ELITE CHALLENGE

The Elite Challenge is a competition for dancers with an average age of at least 8 years old. The particularity of this competition is to receive the comments of the judges at the end of the choreography live in front of the public.

1. PERSON IN CHARGE

By default, the registration system designates the choreographer as responsible for a choreographic routine. If the choreographer can not be present at the competition, it is possible to designate another person to represent the group. This person responsible for the choreographic routine will receive a free pass to attend all Challenge activities.

2. ACCOMPAGNYING PERSONS

Schools are allowed to have accompanying persons in their lodges to assist competitors for their preparation. The school must therefore determine the reasonable number of attendants needed. Access to the lodges is thus controlled to ensure the safety of the participants and to avoid congestion in the aisles. Access cards will be given to a person in charge of the school upon arrival. This person will have to distribute them among the accompanying persons. Each attendant MUST purchase a pass to enter the Arena.

3. CLASSIFYING

The Elite Challenge team will distribute the numbers according to the representativeness of the entries according to the age, style and size of the groups.

N.B. The Festival reserves the right to cancel or merge categories according to the number of entries.

AGE:

The average age of the group must be 8 years old and older as of March 24th, 2019. Decimals are taken into account (eg the average age of a group corresponding to 15.4 years will be rounded to 15 years, that of a group of 15.5 years will be rounded to 16 years). A verification of the date of birth of each competitor will be made at the reception, participants must bring a photo ID to the competition site.

STYLE:
  • Urban dance (hip-hop, breaking, popping, locking, house, etc.)
  • Contemporary
  • Lyrical
  • Jazz (broadway, latin, street jazz, etc.)
  • Open (oriental dance, flamenco, swing, gigue, several styles fused, etc. In the case of a fused styles choreography, judges should not perceive predominance of a style already having individual category to it under penalty of disqualification.)
N.B. For choreographies that contain more than 2 acrobatics, they must be presented in free style.
DISCLAIMER:

If a choreography is presented with a smaller number of dancers because of an unexpected absence, it will remain in the category in which it was previously classified. The registration of the absent dancer is non-refundable.

4. REGISTRATION

For a registration to be valid, you must have accepted the rules before sending your form and make the payment in full. Participants may register more than once in one category to present different choreographies. Event responsible will organize the schedule to allow participants to quickly change between their numbers. The registration deadline is March 1st, 2019. Registrations paid before January 31, 2019, inclusively, with the seal of the post office as proof, will receive a discount:

8. PROPS

Accessories that do not leave residues on the stage are accepted. However, they should not clutter the backstage or the boxes when they are occupied by other groups. If the dancers are not able to carry their own sets or props themselves on stage, people from the school who have the necessary accreditation to go behind the scenes (directors, choreographers, managers or competitors) will be able to help them. The sets and accessories must be installed in a maximum of one minute. The decorations will have to enter the establishment through a door of standard size and on the stage by the side slides. The choreography with accessories will have to be mentioned during the registration. Anyone who is on the stage during a choreography in a number must register as a competitor even if it acts as a decorative element. In the event that these criteria are not respected, the group will be disqualified without possibility of presenting its number.

10. ACCESS
